Privacy policy

Last updated: August 18, 2026

Your Privacy Policy should include these sections

1. About SaveMore / Who We Are
Explain who operates SaveMore, who is responsible for personal data, and how users can contact you about privacy.

2. Information We Collect

For SaveMore, this may include:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • User/account ID
  • Monthly income and other financial information provided by the user
  • Bank balances and transaction data, if the user chooses to connect a bank account
  • Purchase and transaction history
  • Subscription and bill information
  • Receipt images and information extracted from receipts
  • Savings goals and other information entered by the user
  • Customer support messages
  • Device and app information
  • Analytics and interaction data, if analytics are used
  • Crash and performance data, if those services are used

For optional features, use wording such as:

If you choose to connect a financial account, we may process account balance and transaction information provided through our banking connectivity provider.

This makes it clear that connecting a bank account is optional.

3. How We Use Information

For example, to:

  • Create and manage SaveMore accounts
  • Display and categorize financial information
  • Identify subscriptions and recurring expenses
  • Find potential savings opportunities
  • Scan and process receipts
  • Track return deadlines and warranties
  • Send notifications
  • Provide Premium features
  • Provide customer support
  • Protect the security of the app
  • Diagnose problems and improve performance

4. Bank Connections and Financial Data

SaveMore should have a dedicated section explaining that bank connections are optional.

It should explain:

  • What financial information is received
  • Why the information is used
  • Which banking connectivity provider is used
  • How users can disconnect their bank account

Do not name a banking provider until you have actually selected one.

5. Receipts and AI Processing

Explain that users may upload receipt images and that SaveMore may process the images to extract information such as:

  • Merchant
  • Purchase date
  • Price
  • Products
  • Other purchase details

If OpenAI or another AI/OCR provider is later used, the Privacy Policy should accurately explain how that provider processes the data.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Explain that purchases of SaveMore Premium on iOS are processed through the Apple App Store.

If you use RevenueCat, explain that RevenueCat may be used to verify and manage subscription status.

SaveMore should not claim to receive full payment-card information if Apple processes the payment and you do not have access to the card details.

7. Service Providers / How We Share Data

This may eventually include:

  • Google/Firebase — authentication, database, analytics, diagnostics
  • Apple — App Store purchases
  • RevenueCat — subscription management
  • Banking connectivity provider
  • AI/OCR provider
  • Cloud/hosting providers
  • Customer support providers

Do not say “we never share your data” if information is actually sent to service providers.

8. Legal Bases for Processing

For users in Norway and the EEA, explain the legal basis for processing personal data, such as:

  • Performance of a contract
  • Consent
  • Legal obligations
  • Legitimate interests, where applicable

9. Data Retention

Explain how long information is kept or what criteria determine the retention period.

Also explain:

  • What happens when an account is deleted
  • Which information may need to be retained for legal reasons

10. Account and Data Deletion

This is especially important for SaveMore.

Because users can create an account, the app should provide an option such as:

Settings → Account → Delete Account

The Privacy Policy should explain how users can delete their account and what happens to their personal data after deletion.

11. Your Privacy Rights

For users in the EEA, this should include rights such as:

  • Access
  • Correction
  • Deletion
  • Restriction of processing
  • Objection
  • Data portability
  • Withdrawal of consent
  • The right to complain to a data protection authority

12. International Data Transfers

If providers such as Firebase, RevenueCat, OpenAI, or others process data outside the EEA, explain how international transfers are protected.

13. Children

This section should explain the minimum age for using SaveMore.

We should decide the SaveMore age requirement before writing the final wording, especially because bank connections may have their own age restrictions.

14. Security

Explain that SaveMore uses appropriate technical and organizational security measures.

Avoid statements such as:

“Your data is 100% secure.”

No service can guarantee absolute security.
